Furlough, giving notice and working for a new employer

I am currently on furlough until the end of June. I have been offered another job on an employed basis. If I give my 4 weeks notice, can I work for my new employer during these 4 weeks? Or do I have to wait until its finished?

Just ask your current employer to shorten your notice period so you can start with the new employer when they want. Can't see why they would object if you are not actually doing any work for them currently.

I would have thought they be happy for you go now rather then wait as it will still cost them to process you pay and you still accrue holiday pay so a saving for them when you are doing now work.0
