Sanding between hammerite coats?

Options
I painted a wrought iron fence yesterday but it looks like it needs one final coat. Do i need to go through the prepping again with wire brush and sanding or will this remove the new first coat. I am using the Hammerite Smooth Black which seems quite glossy.
Enjoy everyday like it's your last!

I would just go ahead with a second coat.

I agree that it is not absolutely necessary to sand it, but I would give it a very light sanding just to knock off the odd blob of paint that has got stuck in a speck of dirt during the first coat.

You use a fine sand paper just to take the shine off so the second coat sticks properly. Light rubbing is all you need.

Read the instructions on the tin - that's what they are provided for.  https://www.hammerite.co.uk/product/direct-to-rust-metal-paint-smooth-finish/#usage-guide

Hammerite say two light coats anyway.  I doubt it needs any more rubbing down.

Yes, read the instructions on the tin.
Hammerite expensive & a pretty poor product compared to what it used to be.

Depends how good you want it to look  personally it's outside and birds will poop on it so just another coat  but if you have time a very light sand will do no harm
