The employee in this case wouldn't be available to work though in any capacity though , as is off sick it seems. Shielding is currently a secondary issue.1

my daughter works part time as a hairdresser. When the lockdown eases and salons are allowed to reopen, if my daughter refuses to go back to work for different reasons, will she have to pay the furlough money she’s received/receiving back.

No, but when the salon opens it’s likely they won’t continue to use the scheme. So if she refuses to go back, she won’t be paid.Colin_jones said:Hi all

Yes they technically could but they don't have to. However, given you're off sick then really you can't be furloughed as you're off sick and not available to work.
Why don't you ask the union to sort this out? This is why you pay them subs.
