Has the op said what their milage is? A EV may not be suitable at all. It wouldnt work for me for sevral reasons. Lets not assume EVs are suitable for everyone.1

There will be a minimal amount of "repos".Kattekwaad said:OP there should be a glut of PCP and lease cars coming on the market towards the end of the year (repos) and I think waiting a bit and watching the market like a hawk could well pay dividends.
Why do you say that?
Lots are on payment holidays at the moment, some (on here) couldn't even make the payments within a month of lockdown and if 2m are unemployed by Christmas the whole country let alone the car market will be under a lot of pressure.
Sure manufacturers can reduce supply to maintain prices but if that is for an extended period they will be laying folk off.
Post lockdown is when the real fun will start, at the moment most people are protected by the furlough bubble.
So as I said watch the market like a hawk there is certainly no need to jump in (unless you have no choice for whatever reason).0 -
Very true, perhaps 'consider switching to an EV if your circumstances allow for it'.Scrapit said:Has the op said what their milage is? A EV may not be suitable at all. It wouldnt work for me for sevral reasons. Lets not assume EVs are suitable for everyone.
It is worth doing the research though. On paper I certainly wouldn't be a good candidate for an EV, but through change in habits, buying the right EV and a bit of luck I've managed to make it work.0 -

That's like saying a Hummer isn't suitable everyone. Duh, obviously.
You are wrong about the mileage though, with an EV the more you do the more you stand to save. If you are doing say 150 miles a day then you could be thousands a year better off, and save yourself a lot of time by not having to visit petrol stations.2 -
And potentially waste a lot of time waiting to charge the battery.[DELETED USER] said:Scrapit said:Has the op said what their milage is? A EV may not be suitable at all. It wouldnt work for me for sevral reasons. Lets not assume EVs are suitable for everyone.

In the last 17months or so of owning an EV I can't remember a single time I have ever 'waited' for the car to charge...it's charging whilst I get one with my usual daily activities.Mercdriver said:

What, wrong? No. If they are doing alot of miles a day the range of the ev might not be suitable or viable. I have at least one journey next week that means i couldnt have an EV, more so in normal times.[DELETED USER] said:Scrapit said:Has the op said what their milage is? A EV may not be suitable at all. It's relatively unusual to drive over 200 miles without a break. Even more so to then return without hanging around for a few hours. There are plenty of EVs capable of doing a 400 mile round trip in a day. However, the vast majority of car journeys are well within range of all current EV models.Scrapit said:
