Places to live within a 20 minute drive of Glasgow

Hey, I currently live in Wemyss Bay but me and my partner are planning on getting house much closer to Glasgow. I have family in Falkirk and they have family in Irvine so this is to give us more equal travelling distance (plus we like the idea of being within a 20 minute drive of Glasgow but not too near the city centre). We need somewhere close to a train station with at least 2 trains an hour to Glasgow. We'd like it be pretty semi-rural so that we have nearby nice walking options and ideally with a small selection of shops so that there's a bit of life to the place.

We've looked into places like Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Bishopton however we don't know much about any of the areas that we're finding. Any suggestions and information on places would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Have you looked at posting in the House Buying Renting and Selling sub-forum Lots more people asking in that subforum about what are good locations in particular regions.

From my own knowledge. Bishopbriggs used to have better house prices than Lenzie, and better access to shops, Both towns have access to the Campsie hills plus the country parks to Glasgow's south and east.

Both are only about 10 minutes or less fromGlasgow by train.
