DPD Delivery

Hi..
trying to get some advice on the situation currently that I am in,
so DPD has delivered a item to my house, when I opened the door the parcel was just on my doorstep and the delivery driver pretty much waved off goodbye.
once I took the parcel in, I realised that the address was correct but the parcel was addressed to the previous homeowner (bought this house over a year ago now)

once I took the parcel in, I realised that the address was correct but the parcel was addressed to the previous homeowner (bought this house over a year ago now)
I then spoke to a neighbour and asked if she could let the previous homeowners (they are friends) know that a parcel has been delivered for them. The neighbour had actually got in contact with them, offered to drop it to their house which they refused, apparently they are going to get DPD to come and pick the parcel back up. I’ve even said I would leave it on my doorstep for them to collect it..
My issue is it’s been nearly 3 weeks now, not heard anything and they are just being really sketchy about the whole situation. You can even see that it’s a iPhone in the bag so it’s not nothing cheap either. I’m actually back to work now so ideally I’d want this sorted.
I don’t want to get the neighbour involved any more either,
I know lockdown restrictions have just eased up but I’m pretty sure they live 3 miles away from us.
Any advice welcome,
thanks

Contact retailer and get them to pick it up.
Think you have given them long enough to sort out.
Also DO NOT let anyone you do not know take the box.Life in the slow lane1 -
Do you mean contact DPD? I don’t want to interfere in any process they might be trying to sort out.born_again said:Contact retailer and get them to pick it up.

No, not DPD, the retailer who sent the phone. That's the only way to make sure this doesn't come back to bite you.jam_melly said:

If the neighbours are friends with previous occupants , I find it a bit odd that something can’t be worked out assuming both the neighbour and previous occupants have a car, considering they are only 3 miles away1

You've done all you can. Just leave the package in the house somewhere safe and wait until you either get a card through from a courier or the owner turn up to pick up their parcel.0

Chuck it in a cupboard and forget about it - I had similar with a laptop many years ago.
No one ever collected, and it sat gathering dust for many years, eventually a friend of mine who's a bit of a technology hoarder added it to his collection.

Have you opened the package?
If not, there is nothing illegal in doing so provided that you have a reasonable excuse for doing so and I don't see anything wrong in seeing if there is an invoice or packing slip from the sender in there and if there is, this will allow you to contact the sender to advise them of the problem.

So there is nothing to say who sent the phone, even in the box. Which you must have opened to know it's a I-Phone....jam_melly said:
