Electric prepayment key meter query
Options
I have just changed electricity provider. (I am on a key meter)
Every year the previous supplier would send me my yearly bill informing me of my usage/charges and meter reading.
Now that I am leaving I receive a letter one week saying I am in credit and will be sent a cheque for the amount. then the next week I receive an estimated final bill informing me that I owe them money, even though I am on a key meter. (And with under 2 weeks to pay)
My question is, Is this the normal practice??
Thanks in advance

I would contact them about the estimated final bill because it should not be estimated at all, it should be based on the meter readings you gave to your new supplier who in turn should send these to your old supplier. you can also send these final readings to the old supplier yourself.Do not accept a final bill based on an estimate.0

When we changed prepayment gas suppliers, I replied and asked them to prove how I owed the money since the previous bill said we were in credit, credit was showing in the meter, it’s a “pre”payment meter and we hadn’t gone into the emergency credit at all and had no debt on the meter.
Never got a response. Never got any chase letter either.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Only way I can see that you would owe them money is if they have in fact send a refund cheque to you in error and in that case the amount of the new charge should match the refund...Otherwise just take a close look at the final bill and make sure it is using the correct meter readings.0

Update.
Phoned previous supplier.
I am in credit. Not to worry about the bill.
They will send details to me confirming this.
Many thanks to you all for your help.
