hmm... youre asking the very question ive been wondering about aswell! cos cc's are not a "priority debt" i dont think theres owt they can do about it to be hoenst. but i think if you do come back to the country within the next 6 years maybe, your credit score would be really really bad.
hth xx0 -
what about loans??0

Obviously you should be asking this question in the 'destination ' country rather than in the UK... it depends upon their laws and regulations and not the UK's.0

loans i think they can keep on record if not paid- so youd prob be ok unless you came back really soon after youd gone over, cos youd prob have terrible credit.
but i think with secured loans, youd have no choice but to pay cos the solicitors wouldnt let you sell without paying surely...?
unless.... you had a cash buyer..... ????????!
hmmm...

If you're traced, the debt may be sold to another DCA in the new country, who will then pursue you.
That said, I shoudl think it's not so likely, depends on how much information you build up about yourself in your new country ~ bank accounts etc.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Guys,
are we actually thinking banks only exist in one country??
Unfortunately in todays globalised society, many high street banks operate across all areas of the world. I think they would track you down.
Also to formally leave the UK, you need to give the Government notice.Depends if you want your pension??
You might as wll go bankrupt in the UK before leaving.. That way it is all terminated before you leave and they will not be chasing you for 7+ years.
Bankrupt free after prob 2 years allowing you to get on with your life..
On pay the money back you borrowed but I know bit of a silly idea.
Loads of information if you search google..'leaving uk with debt'

If you're in a country that is in the EU or we have an extradition treaty with, it's feasible that the credit card/loan company report you for fraud/theft/dishonestly obtaining and you end up being arrested when traced.0
