Moving Overseas and Leaving Debt in UK

Hi
OK, right to the point, I have emmigrated and still owe 7k on 2 cards. I cannot move the balance to a 0% APR card as I cannot get another UK Credit Card as I am not on postal role etc etc.

Would I get away with just not paying and let them CCJ me etc? Can they get me overseas? I will not return to the UK to live, that is certain as I have house, job etc and detest the idea of returning to UK.

Please - no moral stories, if I stopped paying, what are the implications.

I really cannot afford to keep transferring foreign cash to pay for this debt, plus they have made enough out of me paying the full APR for the last year or two!

A relative of mine has moved to Canada, he owed £4k when he left.
The CC company have found him and he has ended up with a load more charges and a Canadian Debt collector paying him home visits, even once calling at his place of employment.
    His debt now is £6K.
Aiming to be debt free....but still off target

Could just phone credit card co and tell them the truth. ie , going abroad can't pay. They might accept a smaller amount for quick settlement. Maybe a very small amount. This would avoid getting chased abroad and perhaps be a little fairer!!!

you need to find out the laws and rules of your new country and how any such action would affect you there.

It will all depend on which country he is moving to and how bad they want to find him.
