Nursery changing the way they charge

Options
Hi all.
Don't know if this is the correct place but couldn't find anything more appropriate.
So my daughters nursery has been closed, due to to Coronavirus for the past 2 months and the way they workout out the monthly invoice used to be Weekly Cost X 50 ÷ 12.
I have just received the latest invoice for June, as they are reopening, which is nearly £40 more pm. Having queried this, they have said they now work out monthly cost by Sessions per month X Session price.
They have never stated that they were changing the way they are charging, my question being, are they allowed to just change the way they figure out the price without any correspondence or notification that they intend to change it?

Thanks in advance!

What does your contract say about invoicing calculations and changes?

If you're not bound into a contract then yes they can change anything they like going forward.
  • I have asked for a copy of the contract that has been signed, and a full copy of their policies and procedures that has to be requested, awaiting a reply. There are no terms and conditions on there website that state how its calculated, but it is stated on a document we received that it is via weekly Cost x 50 / 12 method, can this be used or does it need to be stated in their terms and conditions as to how its calculated?.
    Thanks.

I suggest you see what the contract says and come back to us. We're guessing otherwise.

I'm with the others on the contract, but would also add, what does it change?

If you are paying for x sessions per month, then some months there will be more sessions and some there will be less due to the way the month falls and the sessions attended.  Ultimately the price is the same over a year it is just charged differently.
