Aqua default amount showing when sold to Debt recovery

Hi all
I am working to clear all of my debts and, thanks to a house sale have done this successfully, my question is I had an Aqua card which they sold to Cabot and marked as default, (correctly) however I have now paid off Cabot but the Aqua card still shows an amount and as a result shows I am over using my credit card available balance and this is affecting my credit rating.
I am struggling to contact aqua as I don't have the card anymore and don't know the number. I did raise a dispute but think they misunderstood as they came back and said the default was correct (which it is) I am not disputing the default just the amount - surely if it was sold to Cabot and subsequently paid off it should show as 0 balance but in default as other debts do?
can I do anything? Aqua aren't very helpful, I suffer from anxiety and would prefer to deal with them by email but, they say they do not have this function (I have dealt with every other debt by email)
thanks all, hopefully that makes sense!

Write to them including a screenshot of the entry on your credit file and proof of paying Cabot requesting the default balance is updated accurately to £NIL.
It's quite normal for you to be anxious with having had this over your head. It will slowly start to fade as you tie up all the little niggles in your life.

Was it sold to Cabot or were Cabot collecting it on behalf of Aqua?
Is there an account with Cabot showing on any of your credit files?0 -
Cabot are debt purchasors, they don`t act on behalf of anyone, put in a written complaint to whoever it may concern, address your letter to the compliance officer at that company, mark your letter "COMPLAINT".They then have 8 weeks to investigate, and issue a final responce, if, when received, you remain unsatisfied, escalate to the ICO.However the effect this will have on your credit file is minimal, its the default that does the damage, once defaulted your relationship with that creditor has ended, so credit utilisation is not applicable.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
