My word, you must have been tired - I've seen posts from you where you're propping up your eyelids with matchsticks. Hope you slept well - we looked after your diary for you!

Just carrying on that tradition for a mo - I *loved* economic history, of course I studied it back in the 70s, it was the first time I came across working class history in any shape or form, it was really liberating! Power to the people! Yay! [KC realises what she's doing, and morphs back into the 2008 version, where that isn't needed in quite the same way.....]

Phew. I prefer 2008, with all its woes.

Liberating? It was all about canals and spinning machines...

Mine was about, how reasonably rich families became very rich through the advent of spinning/weaving machines, they then invested that money into getting their goods to market - firstly turnpikes, then canals. They then took the money they made from canals (turnpikes are not that profitable) and invested them into railways.

There you go - there's a years work in there...

Interesting! Thats economics for you - there's an economic side to absolutely everything. Mind you, I never understood what a spinning jenny actually *was*! And one side of my lot were weavers, only just lost to living memory in the last couple of years. Oops...

Be thankful - I did a Maths and Computer Science degree, and ended up having to do Economics and Economic History...

Maths...Computer Science...History. Spot the odd one out...

Ooo couldn't have handled the Maths but History was my major and Business Computing my minor. The only good thing about my encounter with Keynes was it meant I knew to move heaven and earth to avoid the economics modules in the computing options :D

Hmmm, still thinking about doing an OU history degree; did cr*p at GCSEs and changed route, ending up with a Law degree (6 years part time!) Have always been fascinated by social history..

    Hi guys :hello:

Not much to report - went to Lidl on my way home from work......I *think* I spent less there for what I bought, but brain was not switched on, so I am not entirely sure!!

Gosh what an exciting life I lead!
