hi folks, need to replace some old wooden windows with upvc ones, above one of the windows is an old style reinforced concrete (stones & cement) lintel what drill bits would you recommend to use ? need a bit that will go though the cement/stones and the reinforcing bar
or is there another way to fix the upvc window in place ?

Use an SDS drill with a masonry bit. Your installer should have all the necessary tools in his van - If you are not using a FENSA (or similar approved installer), do be aware that the fitting of replacement windows is subject to building regulations. The work will need to be signed off by building control. The advantage of a FENSA or similar contractor is that he/she will do all the paperwork which would usually cost in the region of £300 or so. You should also get an insurance back guarantee to boot.
