Buying a greenhouse

Agreed, but it has a drawback which I mentioned, so people have to decide what's most important to them. I sited my greenhouse in the bit of the garden furthest from the house and told my two they were not allowed within 2m of it, which seemed to work. It was broken by a flying football from next door, which was scary because I was inside at the time, but with bubble wrap protection, I survived.-taff said:I mentioned the polycarbonate dave because they said family friendly. I meant windows of course...Poly won't cut children or smash when hit by a football....

Never 'tested', but our toughened glass is supposed to be able to withstand a football.Davesnave said:

Our only breakage was when Mr S was mowing the lawn and the mower flicked a stone at the greenhouse. The whole panel shattered into glass crumbs - a pane (sorry- couldn't resist!) to sweep up, but no dangerous shards.0 -
Happened to me with the old conservatory. I stood, transfixed,as the small area of damage widened out steadily on its own and continued to spread into ever more complex patterns over five or more minutes.....before finally collapsing in thousands of tiny pieces, most falling into the gravel.Silvertabby said:

No sweeping possible, just replacement of window and gravel.

I recommend an 8’ by 10’ and high-eaves model as you get space for tall and wide crops like tomatoes, or for two-tier cropping (shade lovers under the staging, sun lovers on top).If you order via a local garden centre then it will be easy to contact their local installers if you later on want an upgrade or repair, or even a take-down and reinstall when you move.A greenhouse water collection kit will fill a butt really efficiently and a self-opener is really helpful for the roof light, on really hot long days like this, ours would open before I was even out of bed, and stop everything getting stressed.Fashion on the Ration
