We are due to inherit some money from a relative who lived in Australia. We are looking for some advice as to the best way to receive the funds. We can keep it in Australia for a while if required, but not sure if there is any benefit to that? Grateful for any suggestions please.

Do you know how much?
Are you likely to require the funds in Australia any time soon ? If not there is no point in keeping it there.
The best way to receive it? That is a good question - who will be sending it - a solicitor/legal firm in Australia or one of your family members?
When we know the amount we should be able to advise further.

Hi. It’s from the solicitor who has been managing the probate. We will need to bring it back to UK at some point but our issue at the mo is the value of $ and £.Thank you0

The current exchange rate is £1:A$1.85 down from over A$2 a little over a month ago, so it is more favourable to transfer back than it was then.
Assuming you don't have an Australian bank account, how do you plan to keep the money in Australia?0
