Tui Cash Refund

Good Evening, this is my first post, so please be kind.    I booked a holiday for the 10th May 2020 with Tui which was cancelled due to the current situation.   My refund credit note arrived on the 11th May 2020.   My husband and I decided it was best to ask for a cash refund, times are hard at the moment.  On the 14th of May my call was answered after an hour and 42 minutes on hold, after a 6 minute conversation my cash refund was authorised upon receipt of my special code number.  When checking my credit card statement the amount credited was £40.00 less than the amount shown on my refund credit note.   No mention in my call was I advised that there would be a deduction or a charge.   Has anyone else had the same problem.  I will probably have to phone Tui again just to clarify.

Did you get a cancellation invoice sent to you? That might explain what the deduction is for? Otherwise yes you will need to speak to TUI regarding it

My cancellation invoice shows the full refund, & that's what I got (including the seat upgrade cost).  It was emailed to me about 15 mins after my call.  There is a massive thread for TUI refunds & you might be better to ask there.

It sounds like you may have incorrectly been charged a cancellation fee (unless in the unlikely event you initially paid £40 by some other method that's taking longer).  Sounds like you will have to waste yet more hours of your life on the phone, BUT if you post on the bigger thread you may get more clarity as to exactly what it is, & it may serve as a warning for others to make sure they say the words "this is a FULL refund isn't it".  It did happen to a couple of others I believe, certainly someone was £100 'short' just before I 'phoned for mine late April, & their advice prompted me to double check at the time.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

    Other explanations, possibly,
    1. The RCN shows the enhanced value with the +20% extra offer (£40?) which you do not receive if you opt for a cash refund.
    2. The £40 was for an extra like prebooked seat assignments. This may be paid back separately.

As SevenOfNine suggests, perhaps post on the other main TUI Refund thread to see what others may have experienced.
