Also worth considering that should there come a time for care homes then the most expensive does not necessarily mean the best.
It is an unusual thing to do but write to your MP and ask if they will ask on your behalf the question of the local authority of what homes they deem to be well run. A good manager makes a world of difference, regardless of the associated costs.0 -

Different homes will suit different people and you know your relative better than anyone.You can see the reports of the homes online but, like OFSTED reports, don't base your decision on the report alone.If you do make a short-list in advance, check again when the time comes because a change of manager or ownership can mean drastic changes to the quality of care.0 -
If you want to know which are the best care homes in your area, ask a district nurse which one they would allow their own relative to move into. They know them all.0
