Tax credits and unable to work

Hi hope this is the right place to post..
Basicly I am struggling for child care if I temporarily reduce my hours or take time off unpaid would I be able to get help from tax credits we have already recieved our award for the year..
Think I can see this issue continuing into September.
Going to talk to my employer this afternoon...

Why are you struggling for childcare? Is this anything to do with corona virus?
Only ask because if your childcare has changed because of the current circumstances then there may be a different answer/different suggestions to give.

Yes changed due to virus as had mixture of elderly relative helping and an afterschool collection service and child care which isn't opening again untill September..
They are unsure of they will be offering child care during school holidays either.
My husband has been recently recalled to work from being furloughed...
I am a key worker but with no after school cover kind of stuck0 -
