Yesterday I picked up my new glasses and although I could see out of them I could not read with them properly. When I try to use them for reading, I can only see a small area of the page clearly, the rest of the page is blurry. I took them back and was not offered a refund even though I did say I didn't want them as I can't use them properly. I had my eyes rechecked and the optition said she will try and make the area for reading larger. I am now worried that that may damage the lenses as they are not replacing the lenses. Should I have been offered a refund and will the lenses be damaged or weakened? Can I still get a refund?

Are these varifocals?
What is your prescription?0 -
it does sounds like they are bi or vari focals.
OP have you used this type of lens before as they can take some getting used to.
Even if you are used to this type before, a change in shape/size due to a frame change may require a period of getting used to them0 -
They are varifocals and I currently have varifocals but my prescription did change. However, even if they are new surely I should be able to see clearly when reading and should not have 80% of the page out of focus. This did not happen with my current pair when I fist got them although, I did have to get use to using them.0

I'd go on a drive to see if you get used to them. It's accepted practice* now.
*it's not.1 -
This is surprising. I had my eyes done last Xmas and the equipment they now have is quite advanced. Sometimes it's quite an art to give the correct answer to is A better than B etc. because they can be fairly similar especially if your eyes require varifocals like mine. I think they have three degrees of range with them. Maybe you chose the cheapest.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.0 -
Well if paying £303 for my glasses means I chose the cheapest option I'm glad I didn't get an expensive pair!!
I like the idea of going for a drive to check, didn't think of it but it sounds like a stellar idea.0
