Sorry to hear you may be losing your job. The government has not made it clear if furlough can be counted towards notice period or not so until the government advise one way or another who knows. But I would think they probably can as employers can claim back wages, and notice period is wages. If they need to pay 100% or 80% again who really knows you could make a good argument for both ways. So until the government make an announcement or it is tested in court you will have to do what your company decide to do, if it is wrong you can appeal it later. So I would not worry too much about that at the moment as nothing really you can do. The government has made it clear they can't use the money to pay you redundancy money though.
With regards to the notice period it is the job that is being redundant. So if the job ended on say August the 1st they can give everybody sufficient notice depending on their contract so that they end on the same day. Not quite sure why you thing that would be a form of discrimination.
They are not making you redundant because of your length of service, they are giving you your legal notice. If they don;t do the process fairly then it could be discrimination but notice period is literally that notice period.
