Holiday changes with free childplaces

Looking for advice. Im due to go away on the 24th of july. A holiday we now dont want to go on due to currwnt circumstances. We are now worried TUI will say we can go and to cancel we would lose our money. They are offering a free amendment to a later date but the same holiday for next year is over 1200 pound more expensive as out infant is out of the infant category and we no longer get a free child place. Where do i stand on this?

If the holiday goes ahead and you choose not to go them, yes it's highly likely you'll loose all your money as it is you deciding not to travel. As to delying the holiday can you go later this year when your child will still be classed as an infant?

Either you pay the extra money to move it, you go on the holiday on the original date or you cancel and lose the money paid.

Sorry I realise that’s not what you are hoping for but if you don’t go in July assuming the holiday is going ahead then it’s classed as disinclination to travel and there’s no refund for that. TUI are within their rights to do so in those circumstances.

Other option is to look at re-booking somewhere completely different.
You've got until 30th June to re-book so there's no rush, we're in a similar situation where the same holiday next year increases by £800 and as we're in mid August and going to Greece I can't help but feel it will go ahead (just won't be the same all-inclusive experience we've paid for). I've had a look around already and quite a few places have popped up with free child places, but I often get the impression these child places aren't actually free as the normal price seems bumped for the type of accomodation it is.
Anyway, I hope you get it sorted.

I can’t see a work around to the situation of your infant not being an infant next year.  A child is no longer classed in the travel world as an infant when they reach the age of two. At that point, at the age of two, they need to occupy their own seat on the aircraft and so a cost is incurred. I can’t see any travel business being able to change that for you.
