Insurance transfer to next year??

Hi
My parents had booked a once in a lifetime trip to Canada for July. Today that holiday has been cancelled, however due to their age they had to take out an expensive travel insurance policy (Circa £1k). They did an annual one to also cover an European holiday they should be on at the minute. Any suggestions/tips for how they could transfer the insurance to next year in the hope that they may get to go next year? It was with Saga. Thanks in advance

I read news article about someone in a similar boat but their insurance cost well over £1k, the insurnace company offered them half price for new dates. There is however not a requirement for them to give any refund.

Saga have not appeared to be sympathetic in the past but since their market is likely to be the worst affected, it would make sense for them to be generous. They will argue of course they have been on risk since the policy was issued that one of your parents could have had to cancel for health reasons and may not offer a full refund but you can only discover their current attitude by asking
