MY holiday items flights, car hire accommodation were all booked separately. The outbound flight to Girona Spain (25/062020) with Jet2 has been cancelled, I will get the cost back at some time. My car hire has been cancelled at no cost to me. My accommodation from 25/06/2020 to 15/07/202 I have paid a 50% deposit £1,116 the rest is due on 10/06/2020 and cancellation is a zero refund, the resort is due to open on 18/06/2020.
My return flights are with Easyjet from Barcelona to Belfast has not been cancelled as yet. I have cancelled a 4 night hotel stay in Barcelona at no extra cost. There are no alternate direct flights from N. Ireland to Girona or Bercelona on 25/06/2020.
What will I be able to claim through my insurance for the Easyjet flights, if not cancelled by Easyjet, and should I pay the balance of the accommodation costs?

With insurance it will depend on your cover.
With the villa who do you pay and what method of payment do you use?

The insurance is unclear as nothing is mentioned about cancelled flights other than these are not covered and recovery is through the airline for the cost which I new. Flights are only mentioned via delayed and supplier insolvency.
The villa (actually Safari Tent) is paid to the Senia Group the camping site company for their tent rather than Eurocamp or Canvass etc. The deposit was paid by MasterCard, not sure if S75 will apply as the resort will be open (not sure if there will be reduced resort facilities that would impact us, all adults) or if FCO advice to essential travel only will still apply on departure date.0 -
Is FCO advice mentioned in your policy?

Yes I will be covered under "all but essential travel" but as the FCO have given no end date I don't if I will be covered if the FCO advice changes to a end date before the 25/06/2020. I doubt it will change and leave me in that position. I assume that will not occur but if I don't pay the balance of the accommodation, I will have effectively cancelled myself from my insurers perspective. Obviously I have not been able to talk to anyone from the insurance company or get anything from the camping site company..0

There is a quarantine is due to start on 8th June and will last at least 3 weeks that covers to the 29th June..
There is no way that FCO advice will change during the quarantine
You can not say it's safe to go to a country and then quarantine them on the return, it would never make sense.
If a country is deemed safe by the FCO, then there will be no quarantine for that country on the return

It seems that the accommodation will be open and so the booking will not be cancelled by the provider.Unless you can come to an alternative arrangement with the provider (vouchers, free re-booking etc), your only option will be your insurance. The problem with paying the balance is that you are effectively doubling the amount of the insurance claim, whereas the expectation would be that you should minimise any loss.Contact the accommodation provider and see what they can offer, but also put a claim in with your insurer now, and make all efforts that you can to find out whether they want you to pay the balance or not.Speak to them if you can, but also make sure that your claim and a request for guidance is put in writing to them.If you do not receive a response from them in time, my opinion would be to not pay the balance, and write to the insurance company updating them that you have done so to minimise the amount of any claim.1

AIRLINE FLYING ME TO COUNTRY IM NOT ALLOWED IN
Hi Booked outward flight on Wizair to Israel. Return been cancelled by Easyjet. Wizair wont do anything because their flight is flying but no non Israeli citizens are allowed in country currently so cant fly there. Would be stranded at airport.0 -
Well no response from the accommodation provider, phone continually engaged and no email response either.
No response from one of the insurance providers emails, but standard reply from an alternate email address stating a 20 day delay in dealing with claims.
Good news did get through on phone to a claim handler and so I am on the system and have received claim forms and can complete just claiming deposit paid no need to pay balance. The claim handler was pretty good when I got through today but it was on the third attempt, after two 20 minute fruitless waits, I got through after 2 mins on third attempt.
