BBQ Connector

Options
Hi,

I've just bought a BBQ from Asda and was told it comes with everything and all I'd need to do is buy a gas bottle. I've done that but I think I'm missing something as the gas regulator doesn't fit the gas bottle.

What am I missing here?

Never had a gas bbq before so go easy on me.

Thanks

You've got the wrong gas bottle for the BBQ. You got a propane bottle which wont fit that regulator. You need to get a Patio type or butane gas bottle.

I think butane and propane have different regulators - What type is the canister and what's written on top of the regulator?

    Hi,
After speaking with Calor turns out I've bought the wrong bottle. Insteas of the orange bottle I have I need the patio (green) one. But I've been told because it's the same gas I can buy a new regulator and fit it to the bbq so the orange one can be used. Also told it's cheaper to buy the orange bottles than the green ones even though its exactly the same gas so it would save me money in the long run.

As I was hoping to have a BBQ today im trying to find a new regulator I can fit today, anyone know if this one will do? https://www.diy.com/departments/blooma-propane-gas-regulator/1563313_BQ.prd

Rubbish thing is it doesn't mention what size connector it is.

No, that won't fit. You need a screw in regulator, similar to the one that @Hasbeen linked to. Personally I'd just buy the correct bottle you need, have you tried taking it back to the place you got it from, surely they'do a swap.

That regulator looks the same as the one that you have ,that is a quick release type ,the gas bottle you have has a screw thread connector ,personally i would get the right gas bottle for the BBQ that you bought ,if you swop the regulators and have a gas leak !!! ,its not worth it ,can calor not just swop the bottle for the correct one?

Op the ones you are showing are quick connection types.

Does my link in my previous post not showing the threaded in type?

Here is one that saves you cutting the hose and using jubilee clip

That is similar to the one I use for my 47kgs propane bottles.

Where did you get it in the end and was it like the one @Hasbeen originally linked to? I assume you've cut the old regulator off and jubilee clipped the new one on?
