Travel insurance Refund

I purchased travel insurance with Stay Sure because I have underlying health conditions for this year as I was planning to travel to Bali and India but due to the Covid19 I have been unable to travel and all my holidays have been cancelled for this year. I phoned Stay Sure and asked what happens with my insurance now this Covid 19 pandemic. They offered me a pro-rata refund providing I take out another policy straight away with them giving me 15 month cover instead of 12  and the refund would go against the other policy , I had to go through everything again with them nothing had changed I nearly fell of my chair when she quoted me £1043.00 for a policy I paid for in March cost me £282.16 this is nearly 4 time the price I paid and the policy runs from June 24 2020 to Sept 2021 I feel this is totally unexceptionable and asked if I could have a refund were I was told I only get two options that's let the policy run its course or take out the other policy . can they do this ? I'm unlikely to travel anytime soon as the risk to me with the Covid 19 is greater then most and it is unlikely we will be back to normal for a while yet so the prospect of travelling worldwide is very unlikely for me until this pandemic has been sorted . I look forward to your views .
