Change of statement date

in Credit cards
Hi.
I have a Next store card and for years the monthly statement date has been around the 3rd. This changed in May to 21 of the month.
I contacted next to ask why. The first response was because I had placed no orders the previous month. When I challenged this they said they had changed the date and I still had the three week period to pay.
My question is really can they do this without prior notification? I suspect not, but some pointers would be helpful.
I have responded the them to ask for the communication telling me of the change, and if an unsolicited date change is within the rules.
Thanks

Yes, they can.
You still have the same notice period in which to pay, so shouldn't cause you any problems.0
