O/S Daily Wednesday 27 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Sun breaking through the cloud, feels warm already - was very warm yesterday.
Dinner last night was roast chicken thighs, mash, veg, LO yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday work was steady - I had to do a remote training session - ready for more work we're being given from next week. My last working day this week then I'm on days' off until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun has his hat back on today. Yesterday was mostly cloudy until teatime.
As usual, nothing of great interest to report. Today will be the same old story of my life in confinement. A half hearted attempt at a couple of jobs and then back out in the garden, book in hand. The plants got watered yesterday morning but soon dry out this weather.
I did a bit more decluttering of the younger two DGD's bedroom yesterday. I went through all the drawers getting rid of loads of junk and outgrown activity books. I looked at the dolls cot piled high with dolls and teds etc but thought better of it. I really would have been in disgrace if any of those went missing!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. As always take care and stay safe xx

Morning all Dog walked and just sitting in the garden with a cuppa I will be going over to mums as the consultant is ringing with the results of her scan luckily i will be able to listen in on the extension so i will hear what she has to say other than that just the usual daily hoover and tidy . Have a good day whatever you are up to xSlava Ukraini12

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
A bit cloudy here but warm and dry. I have washing on the line but if it is like yesterday, it will probably be dry in a couple of hours.
Waiting for my prescription to arrive. Tooth is a bit wobbly but the dentist says that's the effect of the infection on the bone and once the antibiotics sort it out, should stabilise.
I need to start earthing up potatoes, weeding as ever, other than that, my day has nothing essential in it. Might wash the floor. Might not!
Hope you all have a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Good morning, looks like another fine day here. Yesterday started cloudy, but turned really warm in the sfternoon. We bought more plants yesterday and I put them in, other than that not a lot happened.TA I've got a big pile for the charity shop now, and there's stuff in the car for the tip, DH went yesterday and came back still with the things in the back of the car. He said the queue was enormous and one of the tip people was advising people to come back later.Anyway last night I found a couple more things for the tip, so they can go today. We'll go out for a walk today, and the usual jobs will be jobbed. That's it!! hope everyone has a good day, take care folks12

Good morning folks. My only task for today is to collect a couple of parcels at the local PO from Amazon. There's still a pile of books to read though my enthusiasm is waning slightly, I definitely need more meaningful activity. Not long now!No sun yet here, think the clouds will clear later.Hugs to the poorlies - happy Thursday to all.12

Morning All
No sunshine yet but the clouds are high so it shouldn't be long. Yesterday was lovely and warm, after a busy day at the allotment (17 snails were dispatched), re-potting some veggies here I had an hour in the sunshine with a magazine - my neighbour seems to buy lots and passes them on to me, I'm too stingy and never buy them!
I hoovered and washed the car yesterday, I do usually clean the inside but haven't actually washed a car for years, thankfully it's small and didn't take too long but does look a whole lot better - can't have a tidy driveway with a mucky car!
Great turnout of tractors Mehefin, what a lovely tribute.
monna, I love your stories, keep them coming!
I have some school work to do today, not much so won't take long. I've just done some yoga as my back has been quite stiff. I feel quite good now so should do it more often.
Right, off to the shower then I can put the washing in. Have a good day, take care. XX10 -
Morning all
Another cracking day here its really lovely I hung some washing out at about 8 last night and its dry as a bone this morning, I had to wash my cycle shorts as I will need them today.
Went for a lovely gentle cycle yesterday just bimbled about locally but managed 10 miles we came across a plant stool and I bought two baby plum tomato plants and a bell pepper they are still very small so will leave them in the conservatory for a while. Also on the way back we popped into a local tiny independent garden center where I spotted an old farming trough in the bushes I asked the man if he would sell it and he said yesso we came home and got the car and went and collected it, we think its a sheep feeder as its smaller than a cow one, but its now full of water and being left to settle for a few days before I put some pond plants in and a tiny fountain, I have put some bricks in the bottom in case wildlife falls in and cant get out, the dogs think its fantastic and the little one fell in yesterday and they both keep drinking from it
I am hoping to attract some wildlife into the garden and also I love the sound of water tinkling away in the background, I am easily pleased
Onto today we need to have a quick tidy round and then cycle up to a the florist and get my friend some flowers and then cycle to hers and drop them on her doorstep, its her Birthday today and she is part of my 'bookclub' and I do miss out get togethers.
Nels spa again today ?? get the cocktails on ice and I shall bring himself to do the bbq again.
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning everyone
Just having a catch up and a cuppa before I pop down to mam and dads.
The sun is just coming out and it looks as if it will be a nice day - it was beautiful yesterday and very hot. I was out almost all day. I sat on my sun lounger in shorts pretending I was on holiday. Did put my veg plants in but other than that I was very lazy...it was a good day.
I was supposed to be going to Sweden today to visit eldest DD so feeling a bit down in the dumps about that - never mind it can't be helped.
Monna I too enjoy your stories - please keep entertaining us.
Well I'd better get dressed - though dad wouldn't actually notice I'm in my pyjamas!
Hope you all have a good day

Morning all! More sun! Way too hot last night, I remember tossing and turning all night trying to find a cool spot. Maybe there's something wrong with my biology again, or maybe it just is that warm....Cool shower when I jumed [ ok, not exactly jumped, more like creakily rolled ] out of bed this morning, which regulated the temperature again. No big plans for the day, just pottering and get the fan. I'm keeping all the curtains closed today to try and keep the house cooler. It beats down on the front until about eleven then switches to the back so the lean to turns into an oven which is good for the plants, not good for us though. One other must have as well as a dishwasher is going to be an air conditioning unit. My aunties all had one installed in their kitchens in italy [when they were alive obviously] and they do work really well.I'm looking forward to going there when we can.I made quiche last night, didn't have normal flour so used the masa flour as the base, verdict, quite nice. I like the taste of that. And I managed to use my new ceramic balls
I used a ceramic dish but next time I think with that flour, a metal based one will be better. I also got distracted [ story of my life] so the quiche is not nicely wobbly in the middle, it is thoroughly cooked i.e. very brown on top looking. Also means no cooking tonight, woohoo! Will do another potato salad and a mixed salad of carrots/courgette/celery [ all the c's!] with oil and vinegar. I ordered some sesame oil as well, never tried it before but it smells lovely so I forsee a few plain noodle and sesame oil dishes happening. Ramen are so easy. Chop up some stuff, boil it with the noodles, away you go. I will extract the kimchi from the fridge recesses and see what that's like now.
Ruby, your water feature sounds lovely [ Garden Rescue is back on by the way] camelot, not a fan of snails and garlic butter then?
Scarlet, we have to book appointments to go to the skip, is yours just a free for all then? Bella, hope the news is understood this time. AOD, hope the antis arrive quick smart! Mehefin, what a lovely tribute. ME, I used to sieve it, now I just chuck it on, leave it for a week or two [ on the beds anyway, not in the front] any big bits will work their way to the top and I can just skim them off with a rake. Much easier. TA, did you do your sourdough loaf after? snoozer, when the OH goes out he wears a mask but he says he hasn't seen anyone else with one, it's the effects of living in fear, the fear goes and people don't remember....it's all very 'It won't happen to me' Dp1, commiserations....Anyway, hey to all reading along, hope it's going well, or just going....Welcome ot Wednesday!

Morning all, the sun is shining, it's going to be a hot one today and If Derek has it right it's going to get even hotter !!Rant alert !! Didn't sleep very well, I think it was most likely because of the terrible conversation I had with Dad. He didn't answer the phone at 7 so I left him a message that I would ring in 10 mins ( my heart is always in my mouth when he doesn't answer ) Anyway he answered and said his phone hadn't rung, er yes it did I've left a message for you, sadly the conversation went even more down hill from there. Talk about being argumentative, he was on top form last night and everyone got it in the neck, from the supermarkets to the Government and anyone else in between ! Anyone want him, no charge ?DD called yesterday with our meds and we had a drink and HM plum crumble with cream in the garden, it's always a pleasure to see her. She returned later with some HM waffles and I was stuffing my face a bit late in the evening really, but they were delicious. Who needs deliverooooooooooYesterday I dug about a 3ft x7ft patch of the garden, so if it's not too hot today I'll be continuing that..... only about 18ft to go !! It was hard going as it seems full of tree roots ( the tree has gone ) and small stones. I also need to mow the lawns if it's not too hot, the rain last week has made everything shoot up.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8
