(Yet another) DCBL Letter - I've dropped a clanger. What are my choices?

Hi there - dropped a clanger here. Please can you help me understand my options?
Backdrop:
- Parked at a hotel for a meeting last summer. We met at the hotel, the person I was with (my non-exec) had a receipt for the day
- Got a letter unexpectedly about a fine for not registering my details at the hotel reception. I was oblivious to all signage.
- Rang the hotel at the time, they said it was he'd office thing. I asked for a callback
- Didn't get one back
- I've had a couple of letters since, but chose to ignore them (naively).
- Now had this letter come through
- Checked through Trust online and I do have a CCJ (an unsatisfied record)
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. And gracefully taking any criticisms may way. What I would massively appreciate is what my options are
a) with regards to this letter and
b) with regards to the CCJ and
c) the debt itself.
That and any other advice would be very welcome.
Thank you

Hi Redx, not going to make excuses. Lame and stupid, and naive on my part.
Worse thing is, I was there legitimately and could be proved it with a receipt of purchase when there.
I wish I'd looked up prior letters on here like I have with this one.
Naively I thought it was bully tactics and ignored them.
One of the letters had a court stamp. I just threw them for the same reasons mentioned above.
Very lame I know.
It's now to understand what my options are. I take it even by paying the CCJ is there for 6 years now?0 -
yes .... it just shows satisfied ....so no rushing to pay.what was the date of the CCJ?Ralph3

it seems to me that if the court papers arrived and were ignored then a contested set aside could be almost impossible, because you need a good reason for the set asideemail enforcement at PE and see if you can obtain consent for a set aside with consent, where you pay all the money and fees etcso yes, your naiviety and not coming here for help at the right times has cost you dear and paying it does not remove it3

Is this DCBL one definately for the parking eye case as they normally use a different letter format for parking eye cases4

I know this is hard to believe but at the time I did not pay attention to any signs. Not was I given a prompt by the the staff.1 -
should be a case of getting back to the hotel, have they said anything? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"2 -
"By not rushing, you mean agree a payment plan? Ignore it?"There are a couple of forum members who have expertise in set asides .... wait for comments. However read again what Redx posted above.Your choice will be limited unless others suggest....If you are planing any mortgage / loan / new phones in the next 6 years , then the CCJ will be an issue"So even if I can prove I was there legitimately there is little point?"it would have beenSo read up on set asides ....and write to your MP, he/she will not be able to reverse the court decision, but its one more knife in the PPC's backRalph1

If you ignore court papers, no matter how unjust the claim is, the court computer will get you.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.3
