It sounds like they aren't refusing a refund but suggesting that there isn't enough money in the business to offer one. If they go bankrupt you will become one of their creditors and probably get very little.
Did you pay the deposit on credit card? If so and it was over £100 you are protected and should just ask for a refund. If they go bankrupt contact your bank and mention Section 75, they will have to refund you.
If not... Well it's a gamble, you could call their bluff and ask for a refund and see if they fold, or they might just give it to you. How much is it?0 -
