You have done nothing wrong. I can't stand these type of bullying neighbours - there is a thread on here where someone has had a skip put on the front garden of a neighbour 4 doors down and got aggressive when the owner of the garden took issue! you can tell by your drawing that the 2 large windows are symmetrical and I would bet my house that the designer/architect advised the homeowner that they wouldn't get away with it from a privacy point of view so bang in something smaller and we'll see if anyone complains when we substitute the larger one. I can't remember if you said whether you had accessed the application online to see all the attached documentation?1

PTRB7 said:@melb i think you are right. I feel like I am going behind their back going to planning, but then I have done nothing wrong, and in fact I shouldn't feel bad about that as they are the ones that are in the wrong. The full window is now in place in blockwork and I am so unhappy, almost the entire window is above my fence line, I have zero privacy and I feel awkward walking out my back door, its made me very sad about all of this.
What are your views if and when this has gone through the formal process that they manage to retain the larger window? As mentioned before, I don’t think the LPA would express the same concerns as you and may end up allowing it.0 -
So the latest is that my Partner spoke to him yesterday to ask him on progress of having the glass as obscure glazing and he said that he had discussed and agreed with me that he would just plant a bush on his side! Sorry but what?!
Firstly we never even discussed a bush and secondly I would never agree to this.
So time to contact planning I think as he clearly has no intentions of being neighbourly or caring about anyone else, to the point of even lying like that.
I was in shock that he said this as though me and my partner never talk and would therefore know this was untrue!
Also shows his true colours and that he is untrustworthy and although again he agreed to obscure glazing we cannot trust him at all!
Really sad that this is going to be our new neighbour when they move in!0 -

If I haven't misunderstood...the neighbour's plot is 1-2m higher than yours hence in a single storey extension they can see into your garden despite your 2m fence. Can they erect their own 2m fence in addition to yours but on their elevated land which would then obscure their view of your garden?0

There is a difference of 600mm between the two properties with the neighbour being at that higher level.
They could erect a fence under PD up to 2m, which will help obscure the view onto the OP’s property but it’s not something you can force somebody to do. Even a PD fence on the OP’s side wouldn’t be enough to provide the required privacy, but would indeed help.
