Help needed please!

Hi, all

On Friday evening 22/05/20, I was stopped by the police on the way home from work. The policeman said I was stopped for no insurance of which I thought that not true I renewed my insurance recently in March. I showed the policeman my policy number from the email I had from Lloyds insurance, but I could not get the full details as I had not created an account to check my details. The policeman could see I had insurance; he gave me a ticket to produce my documents. When I got home, I logged in checked my details after a while to my horror I realised that I insured a car I owned four years ago that must have been saved on the comparison website I used. The exact same car, a black Honda civic same engine but obviously not the same registration, the car in question is not even on the road now it does not exist. I was horrified but I thought surely there is something I can do as it is a really stupid, careless genuine mistake.

The next day I take my documents to the police showing all the evidence I could explaining my situation. The police were ok understanding but they said I need to speak to my insurance. To cut a long story short my insurance a refusing to help me. Speaking to someone working from home who has not dealt with anything like this before, he’s speaking to someone else etc.

Now here is why I’m so worried. I work in a children’s home. I have been doing this for nearly 20 years. If I get more than 6 points on my licence I cannot drive in work. I do have 3 points from a couple of years ago going 36 in a 30 zone, I have heard no insurance is an automatic 6 points.

I could lose my job. I have a young family. I’m so worried right now my life could be ruined over a stupid mistake! I need some advice and help. I don’t know what to do.
