O/S Daily Tuesday 26 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day.- looks like sky may clear later, we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 also getting ready for work, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish with a HM savoury veg rice - very nice it was too. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - we'll have that tonight with mash, veg and LO's yorkshires from Sunday's roast.
We did a couple of jobs yesterday then had a chilled day - it was very warm here.
Back to work today - a short week.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a grey start here, yesterday morning and early afternoon was warm, but it grew noticeably cooler as the day went on.I've got a routine hospital appt this morning, and while we're out we'll go to the garden centre again, for a few more bedding plants, and get them in when we come back.Other than that it's just routine stuff.Hope everyone has a good day anyway - take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A cloudy start here but still very mild. Yesterday was glorious and I was in the garden most of the day. It makes lockdown so much more bearable. All the stockpiling of books from the cs over the years is now paying off as I am going through books rapidly!
It's my little boy's birthday today - he is now 45! The years fly by too quickly. He walked up yesterday with his DP to collect his card and birthday pressie (the FatFace shirt and sweater I had ordered online) and we sat out in the garden - the required distance apart - chatting, and sucking ice lollies, in the sunshine.. It was lovely.
My friend has given me a recipe for soda bread which has lemon juice added to the milk instead of using buttermilk. She says it's lovely so I think I will try a loaf today. I just hope it's not TOO lovely as nice bread, spread liberally with butter, is my downfall! One slice is never enough!
Other than that there's not much else planned. But the pots at the back are looking a bit dry so a hose down of those will be my first job Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Has anybody heard from BELLA? Take care all and stay safe xx

Good morning and thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Despite my poorly mouth, I had a reasonable day yesterday, pottering about. OH made cottage pie which was easy to eat but I still managed to jar my tooth several times. Dentist is hoping to be allowed to see patients early in June.
Not much planned for today but I'll try to be productive and positive.
TA happy birthday to your baby boy.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10 -
Morning I am still here TA I just try not to use my lap top at weekends/BH as its family time . DH and DS are at work today so the house is silent its bed wash day today so that will be blowing out on the line later .
Mum had her scan as i thought they gave no answers she has been driving herself and us mad all weekend she is in constant denial about everything when she had breast cancer she said they had mixed her up with a patient of the same name address and date of birth and when she had skin cancer she said that she had dropped shower gel bottle on her foot and they didn't know what it was so they said skin cancer I give up we have explained that the NHS dont do these operations for the sake of it and if she believes this we need to see a solicitor her latest is that this a UTI (her wee tests find nothing) then she says the doctor told her it was maybe bladder cancer that had spread to the womb and bowel I said to her agin well if he said that then we definatly need to see a solicitor. She says the sonographer said he found nothing I was there and didn't hear that and she didn't mention it on the day I have told her to just wait till the consultant calls and we will take it from there I really think she has nothing else to think about so she convinces herself all these things are true anyway i am just waiting to see what the consultant says blimey that was a long winded bit
Someone has a bad tooth i am sorry i forget who but i hope the new antibiotics are helping
Sounds like most had a nice weekend seeing family even at a distance
Right better get on and make the most of the sun its Tuesday so its pie night in the Bella house
Have a good day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini11 -
Morning All
Bright and sunny this morning but there's been rain overnight, surprised I didn't hear it as I didn't sleep too well.
Yesterday was very busy, the hedge got a bit of a trim, well actually there's no green left on my side, decided it was getting too bushy so cut it right back. A neighbour has lent me a builder's bag to keep the cuttings in until I can feed it gradually into the brown bin which will take months! The main reason for the hedge haircut was so I could get to paint the rest of the front railing, now done but I've run out of paint to finish the rest, it'll have to wait.
Next door neighbour and I shared the painting of the shared drainpipe in the middle of the houses, the top bit was a bit too high for me and he had a longer ladder! It's a job I've been meaning to do since I moved here 6 years ago.
Hope your mouth continues to improve AOD.
Happy Birthday to your baby TA.
Hugs to you and your DM Bella.
Allotment to visit this morning and a work meeting at 1.30 so will have to look presentable then and tidy up the worktop!
Have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning all.
TA, I love the picture of you and your 45 year old baby contentedly sucking ice lollies in the garden. Perfect. Good luck with the soda bread, and don't hold back with the butter. I'm drooling at the thought.
AOD hang on in there. Early June starts on Monday. I was going to say, Grit your teeth, but perhaps that's not very advisable.
Bella. Your tales of your mother are a bit hair-raising. You must have the patience of a saint. I thank heaven for my parents. Mum had dementia and was smiley all the way through. As long as Dad was there she was happy. She didn't know who he was, but knew she was safe with him. Dad was a miracle of good health. He did fall and smash his knee in his late eighties, I was with him when the doctor examined him in the hospital. After going through the long list of medications that Dad wasn't on, and the long list of illnesses and complaints that Dad had never had, the doctor sighed and asked if Dad had ever been in hospital. Oh, yes. He had. The young doctor brightened up, sat up straight and metaphorically licked his pencil. Could Dad remember when that was? Dad certainly could, it was 11th of November 1918, armistice day. He was taken to the hospital in an open cart and remembered all the people out in the road, shouting and waving flags. He was 4 years old. The doctor sagged like a burst balloon, slapped his book shut and said that he didn't think the medical records went back that far.
Why do you let me ramble on.
Don't know what I'll be doing today. I may come back and report if there happens to be anything TO report.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
What do we want? PROCRASTINATION.
When do we want it? NEXT WEEK.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Another bright and sunny day here we have been so lucky with the weather, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out later its such good drying weather.
We went out yesterday on the bikes 25 milesI am almost at a marathon distance and hugely pleased that I can go that far all be it with a little help !! having said that I could not sleep last night and was still awake at 2.30 !! I was very hungry which may have kept me awake, I must take some snacks up with me as it has happened before since ive been cycling.
Onto today OH will go and do our food shop and I have a lady coming to collect the old dinner set which I sold on FB, this afternoon we will probably go for another ride out
Not sure about dinner will depend on what OH buys at the shops.
Mona I love your stories please keep them up xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Thank you all. You are very kind, but you really shouldn't encourage me. I can rabbit on for England if I'm not gagged.
RedRuby, I just love the thought of you packing up a picnic to take up to bed. My idea of heaven. (Hastily leafs through the diet book in search of slimming tips for midnight feasts. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Dammit.)I believe that friends are quiet angels
