                    Hello,
I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced the extreme difference in the price of flights when trying to use easyJets free flight change option.
I wanted to change two tickets that cost me £140 each or £280 in total value. I searched for two tickets to Lyon and was quoted an additional $1.50 per ticket to change to this flight, bringing the total price per ticket to £141.50. This seemed high to me so I checked the price of the ticket through the regular ticketing process and discovered that the same flights were being sold for £38 each.
There is an enormous difference between the 'free' change price and the regular price, how can easyJet do this, surely it is a type of consumer fraud?
I have tried calling the consumer help line but have had no luck getting through

You pay the fare difference if the new flight is more expensive. You don't get a refund if the price is less.
If you don't like it then cancel and get a refund and then rebook, assuming you are moving your dates because your flight has been cancelled due to Covid.0 -

They are charging me £141.50 for a ticket I can purchase for £38.unforeseen said:You pay the fare difference if the new flight is more expensive. You don't get a refund if the price is less.

Can't cancel because its easyJet and you don't get any money back.0 -
I moved a flight and didn't have that issue, seems very strange. When are the flights you want to move?

I would wholeheartedly recommend you wait for a refund if you can, rather than rebook with this airline. Remember flights alone aren't ATOL protected0

True, I am in a similar predicament maybe you should check other days around the same time. I've noticed some flight changes may be £140 £10 £2 or 76p on different days.jeremy33 said:

....
But ... Good luck in changing flights, currently many are unable to change flights online and all communication with Easyjet is nigh on impossible.0 -
Do you have extras? (baggage, seats, speedy boarding etc). Could it be that if your original booking has extras, then when you go to move it, they will quote you the price for like for like with the same extras. Whereas if you do a new search the £38 is the base fare?
No idea if this is right or not, just a thought.0 -
they move all extras as per usual.
Even if you change destination. Tho easyjet are not taking any bookings(payments) for rearranged flights whatsoever0 -

So if they are moving all extras across, then it is a possibility that the cost for rebooking is shown on the basis of those extras being included, and not the headline fare you'd get from doing a fresh search on the easyJet homepage.AlanKudz said:they move all extras as per usual.

No, the price has nothing to do with extras, baggage etc .bagand96 said:

I've been trying to rebook all week but they are not allowing any payments . Like I say easyjet online and phone line is currently not operational.
this is a current price list for a change of flight.

What would mean over £100 extras per person, wonder if they selected the seat next to the pilot?bagand96 said:

With a return seats & luggage it could be that.
