Am I actually going to get a fine?
Spidok
Hi, I thought I'd ask this here. Well to be honest I've been worrying about the day I get a fine sent to me and points on my licence. I received a letter through the post in July last year. It was a notice of intention to prosecute since I was caught by a camera driving 62mph in a 30mph zone. I filled out that form to declare that I was driving. However I have had nothing since. I've had my licence for 12 years and I've never been caught speeding so I don't really know how this works but since I've heard nothing since July 2019, is this a sign that I've got away with it or do these fines typically take this long to process?
Thanks
Thanks

As this is about speeding on a public road , I suggest that you post your query in the relevant section over on pepipoo fightback forums using a non Hotmail email address for sign-up , reading their posting requirements first , including posting pictures of the paperwork1

The CPS have 6 months from the date of the offence to lay information before the Magistrates' Court for a prosecution.Spidok said:Hi, I thought I'd ask this here. It looks like that deadline has long gone, so unless you've moved house, or the dog ate the letter, it looks like No Further Action in this case. You'll never know the reason, but there may be some problem with the evidence.

Jeez, 62mph in a 30mph zone? 😮
Near to us is an electronic sign showing actual vehicle speed and during lockdown walks it's been interesting to read the speeds showing as cars pass. Even at marginal rates above 30mph, it's quite scary to experience the physical pace of the vehicle as it passes you alongside the kerb. But at 62mph ..... OMG!
An extremely lucky escape (especially for the pedestrians of the area). Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I agree - to the original poster, a lucky escape. I hope this is an event that gets you to reflect on your driving and moderate your speed in the future. I did a speed awareness course about 4 years ago and since then I have used my cruise control to make sure I *never* speed. It's all about a mindset that simply accepts arriving somewhere five minutes later as the price for keeping everyone else safe.Umkomaas said:Jeez, 62mph in a 30mph zone? 😮

Could have been a fault with the speed reading - as bargepole says, a problem with their evidence - but if not, then doing over 60 in a 30mph road is something you must never even go near to again. That speed kills pretty much every pedestrian, if unlucky enough to be hit.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for the reply. It has been well over 6 months so if what you are saying is true, Then I can disregard this and basically put it down to experience that I need to be more careful in the future. Which I usually am but I had an unusual circumstance which caused me to ignore my good driving habits on this occasion.Umkomaas said:bargepole said:

I agree with your reaction to my carelessness. I would never deny my stupidity in doing this speed in a residential zone. I do know the area very well and I was running late for an important meeting which needed my attendance but I will admit I shouldn't have been speeding so local knowledge is still no excuse. I was just concerned that I am ordinarily a very careful driver who, on one bad day happened to be unlucky enough to catch the camera.pould said:Jeez, 62mph in a 30mph zone? 😮

Well I'm not usually somebody to break the rules of the road. But you would be right in saying this incident has made me reflect on my driving. The speeding I was doing was literally a one off occasion but it;s evident from this that even that one time can get you caught by a camera. And my car also has cruise control so I may look at using it to avoid this situation from happening again.

Anyway thank you for the responses I've received. It's put my mind at rest a bit but I suppose the best way to do that is to watch my speed in the future. I do appreciate the helpful comments and people not putting me down as some idiot boy racer. I am ordinarily a sensible driver who made a silly mistake.2 -
Given it is far too late for anything to happen now, check your licence online, Be sure.0

Where can I check this to be sure? Is there a particular website that I can check my licence? Thanksnosferatu1001 said:Given it is far too late for anything to happen now, check your licence online, Be sure.
Sorry if I seem a bit naive but I've never experienced this before. I was actually a bit embarrassed about this incident.0 -
