DLA to PIP

my son has been receiving DLA but has now now turned 16 so I applied for PIP. He's been awarded PIP and it starts from Wednesday with his DLA ending tomorrow. He has a payment from DLA on 12 May of 4 weeks and will receive his first payment of PIP on 17 June covering the 3 weeks from start of award. That leaves 2 weeks from 13 May to tomorrow unaccounted for from DLA. Does anyone know if he will also recieve a payment from DLA to cover those 2 weeks?
Many thanks

    1 no he won't
It's because his DLA is paid partly in arrears and partly in advance whilst PIP is paid totally in arrears

I think DLA is paid 3 weeks in arrears and 1 week in advance. PIP is paid completely in arrears. If your PIP payment is definitely only going to be for three weeks there does appear to be a missing week. You could try ringing DLA tomorrow.

  • The award letter says he will be paid dla until 27.may and pip starts from 28 May. He last got dla 12 May. He will get an amount in 3 weeks which id 3 weeks money so backdated to Wed. This means there is 2 weeks between his last dla payment and 27 may when they say they will pay dla till.
I read that dla is paid 3 weeks arrears 1 week advance but that means there would still be 1 week owing?

He will receive his final payment of DLA in the next couple of days based on that information.

Thank you, I was just agreeing with you, and just checking I had it right. Rho would have been easier to quote you lol, Its hard to get through right now so don't want to spend all day on the phone unless I need to. I'll wait to.see what happens and if he doesn't get an extra dla payment in the next 2 weeks I'll ring and check

  • Just incase anyone reads this later whilst in the same situation I have an update-
Just checked the bank and my son has a payment from dla equalling 2 weeks money. This means he was paid from 12 May to.27 may and therfore his dla must have been 4 weeks in areas as apposed to 3 weeks areas and 1 in advanced.
Many thanks yo all those that commented .
