Advice on late deals

Options
Hi,
Wanting some advice on how these work. I've never done it before this way.
When booking a late deal, when is generally the best time to get on? I.e a month before?
What sort of savings can you expect? So if a holiday in total was say £1500, could I get it for something like under £1000?
Do you choose the hotel / times?
Apologies for being a pain. Appreciate any help. Got a few personal issues so looking to get a few trips abroad as we never know what tomorrow will bring.
Thanks

Who do you think you're talking too? I asked a question. Give me a PM and you can have my contact details if you want to be cocky away from the board?
Hi MattGRP you have posted in the wrong board, which unfortunately suffers from people not understanding it is only for posting holiday bargains. I will move your post for a better response.

Thank you. Appreciate that. Just rather annoyed at the first response who gave me no such courtesy. Thanks for the advice.

Late deals used to be for specific holidays so very limited choice or dates. Usually the seat on the plane is the deciding factor as planes rarely fly with many spare seats so a company might have access to a few seats going to a resort and whilst the flight part would be fixed there might be a choice of hotel within that resort depending on availability.  It would be rare to get as much as a third of once you factor in all the extras and in some instances booking early was actually the same price. Obviously unpopular times or days of the week tended to feature highly in the bargain end of late deals.

However I have no idea what the market will look like once we start getting back from this current pandemic , with airlines cutting routes or number of flights and some airlines folding entirely there may be fewer flights and less last minute availability. On the other hand with people reluctant to fly due to having lost money on cancelled holidays or being unable to get suitable insurance there may be more. I’m not sure there is any way of predicting what the holiday market will look like in future.
