I think you would have to ask your employer on that one. I don't think they are obliged to by any law but I also think that the UK will be hoping for some agreement between countries that will negate the need for quarantine as currently if the UK abide by the 14 day quarantine rule then (from what I can gather) other countries will do same. I think Spain has definitely hinted at this. So, in effect holidaymakers to Spain would require 6 weeks holiday for a fortnight in the sun? Not feasible really is it? Another "wait and see" situation me thinks. FCO advice may remain the same as it is now?

France already have.
Back to the OP I can’t see any law that would mean your employer has to honour the now 4 weeks holiday. It is your choice to go on holiday abroad not the employer.

I work for Vauxhall and it’s our annual 2 week holiday so I think they’ll have trouble giving me 4 weeks but I’ve paid £4000 for my holiday to Cyprus so I’m hoping they understand but me thinks not!0

I would doubt they would. Not your employers problem basically.
I would think by July most restrictions would be lifted, although not quite sure why it is us putting restrictions on people coming in, as we have one of the highest infection rate in Europe you would have thought nobody would want us and be banning British visitors.

Personally I think it's to do with trying to encourage people to take a break in the UK.sharpe106 said:I would doubt they would. Not your employers problem basically.

As you say if people don't want to come to the UK, then the national tourism industry needs a much help it can get. (even with this help companies will still bite the dust)
And I agree it's not the employers problem.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

It’s been announced today that Spain intends to gradually open up to international tourists. The quarantine their end at that point may not be in place either, but that said it still might be in place here... I know that doesn’t deal directly with your query but it might give you an indication of what travel plans are beginning to look like for July.0

Not a chance they have to honour it, unfortunately. The guidelines may have changed by then hopefully.0

Of the millions of Brits who go abroad for a holiday, if they can't this year either because of the FCO warning or 14 day quarantine, do you think they will go to Brighton, Blackpool or Scarborough etc instead?0 -
You could negotiate it off as unpaid leave, but there's no way you'll be getting paid for it.0

With the amount the UK charge for holidays still probably cheaper going abroad and taking the two weeks of unpaid to isolate.wkt54 said:Personally I think it's to do with trying to encourage people to take a break in the UK.
