I live in an old terrace cottage. We have a passage between our houses that goes half way down and stops by our lounge. Our neighbours have right of way to their back door which is blocked off inside their house so they never use it. We just store our bins in there right now but I want to build a wc. Can we buy this 10m Long passage permanently ?

I am pretty sure you can. The only question is the price.

If your neighbours don't have a mortgage on the property you may be able to, if they wish to give up the potential access route. If there is a mortgage it's unlikely that the mortgage holder would permit the sale.

I guess this depends on the current LTV of the mortgage or it can be stipulated that the proceeds must go to the lender, thus reducing the loan.
