Cancelled Holiday March
rm67
Background
- I paid a deposit on the 19th of Jan. 2020
- I paid the remainder of the balance via Credit Card on 25/02/2020
- However in the next few days I was feeling uneasy with what was appearing in the news. Although we had travel insurance for pre conditions my wife has Angina and generally unwell. I talked to the travel company on two ocassions and read their terms and conditions wrt cancellation - was assured that as long as cancelled more than 12 weeks before holiday that only the Deposit was lost and the remainder would be refunded on same card. Duely cancelled ON 02/03/2020. (Email to that effect.)
- I understand that Coronavirus became a known event on 13th March - so obviously I cancelled before
- Because I cancelled I assume no help from Travel Insurance or credit car Chargeback or Section 75.?
- I have had a number of conversations with the accounts dept of the travel company. These have been supportive but waiting for their managers to make a decision. The travel company have a record of these conversations. Obviously the situation has been chaotic
1. I notice that the travel company has posted new conditions on their website - however am I safe in assuming that the terms and conditions on my cancellation hold? Can the company introduce retrospective terms? Of course my case will have fallen off the radar a bit.
2. Any help or advice please.
