Can I refuse to accept a delivery from Hotpoint?

Hi,
I made an order yesterday through Privilege Purchase club for 3 items for my kitchen. Long and short of it is, I’ve ordered the wrong size fridge freezer and trying to cancel is a nightmare. They haven’t answered phones and live chat can’t help.

My delivery is due on Thursday and as it is bank holiday tomorrow, I am panicking that when I ring on Tuesday, they will use the “it is already out for delivery” line.
Am I within my rights to refuse one of the items that they deliver? Or do I have to accept it and arrange a return? I’ve read the small print and they say it is 50.00 to arrange a return but I think this is unfair considering I am trying to cancel/exchange one of the items?
Thanks and sorry for the rant!

I would be trying my best to not deliver and if it turns up plead with the driver and bung him money for a pint if he is being tricky.

While refusing to accept delivery is certainly an option, I wouldn't expect this to swiftly resolve your issue and you'll complicate things still further if you attempt to refuse just one part of your order.Best bet is to continue trying to contact them prior to despatch. Why would they not be working on the Bank Holiday? In fact why would they not be working today (Sunday) ?How come their "live chat" is unable to assist?0

They say that customer service is open when I call but then after being on hold, they state that they are closed. I have tried so many times to call.Live chat tell me that they cannot cancel orders and that I will have to call on Tuesday morning. Nightmare.0
