Don't a lot of them have pollock in them?  I am sure a few of the Birds Eye ones have pollock in them.  I was looking at the packages not too long ago.
Buy packs that say "Cod Fish Fingers" or "Haddock Fish Fingers".  Choosing packs that simply say "Fish Fingers" can contain other types of fish.  See some of the earlier posts.

Thanks a lot for the replies.  These !!!!!! are apparently 'Alaskan Pollock' -- if that's where they were caught, it seems an awful long way to go for unpleasant fish!  And to the celebrity chefs telling us we should be eating more no-name fish, I'd suggest there are sound reasons why they are not popular  :s

Will follow the advice to stick with cod and haddock going forward.  Will have a go at making my own too, cheers.
Im very partial to pollock myself, its a great fish for a fish supper. Im lucky that I have a friendly fisherman who gives me them

That's interesting.  I'm guilty of tarring all pollock with the same brush when perhaps it's that Youngs just use offcuts, as someone suggested earlier.  These FF (I'm leaving off the 's' this time as it gets censored) smelled so bad that I took off the coating and just ate the fish.  What little there was was grey/brown and scrappy looking.  I've got five left and will probably end up binning them as they are so bad.  Worst £2.50 I've spent lately.  Need to buy some proper fillets and stop buying processed I guess.

I never buy anything just labelled ‘fish’, for the same reason that I’d never buy anything just labelled ‘meat’ 🤢

I’m not opposed to pollock, if it’s a fillet and not ‘formed from’...

My favourite FF are Tesco Finest Chunky Cod Fillet FF, each FF is approx twice the size of a regular sized FF (and good value if you compare the £/kg)

Generic "white fish" can be a number of fish, the only way to know what is in there is to look on the ingredients as it will then state if that packet is pollock, hake or whatever, then you can sift through the ones on the shelf and get the type you prefer.

I looked up the programme for the fish finger clip but I couldn't get the link to work either.
Looks like you will need to cut and paste:

Edit: Oooops - that's no better.   It looks OK till you post your comment.

I'm surprised Lidl ones performed so badly with Which. I tend to buy them mostly for sarnies, but they do the trick and taste nice enough. At least they state the fish content. When I worked in a bar years ago, they sold fish and chips and used Pangasius. Awful fish.
