Joint ethical bank accounts online

Many thanks for the responses. Really interesting.
One of the key criteria is that "full" joint access is available - i.e. full online access for 2 people (not linked to 1 phone or 1 device)
My wife has a Triodos account and is pretty happy with it. I am not a fan of paying for an account when most are free to use for non-overdrafters. Any thoughts on Nationwide - I have had a credit card with them for years

You need to decide what you mean by ethical and how important it is to you.
One could easily argue that Nationwide has slashed interest rates much more than other financial institutions and that its bosses take excessive salaries for a building society.

I have a £500 overdraft facility with Triodos. I have never used it and have no intention of using it, but the interest rate is 18% - much lower than many other banks. It could mean that if you do use your overdraft you could end up paying less, even with the £3 charge, than you might with other banks offering 'free' banking with a much higher O/D charge.

However, I've had a personal account (i.e., in my sole name) since January. I've found their service pretty good, and am happy with them. I haven't been into a branch since January, but did find the staff in the local one to be very pleasant and helpful. If you have one of their credit cards, presumably you have online access to it, and are therefore familiar with their Internet banking. I reckon that it's one of the better offerings. I suggest that you talk to them about online access for joint accounts, since that's obviously a major concern for you, and see if they offer the functionality that you want. In case it matters to you, they require the use of a card reader for things like setting up new payees, standing orders and suchlike.
