Scottish Power App - Next Bill Date May 2021?
As my elderly parents aren't tech savvy, I look after their Scottish Power account via the app.
They are new to the supplier but I understand that every time I submit their meter readings via the app, a bill is generated a few days later.
However, I've just noticed that within the app, on the home screen, it says the next bill date is 23 May 2021...next year?
I'm wondering whether this is the normal billing frequency for Scottish Power, or a mistake.
Also is there anyway within the app to change the frequency if required?
If this is normal, of course, I will continue to submit monthly readings via the app. However, in theory, could I submit the meter readings less frequently, as long as I submit a reading prior to their next official billing date as per the app?
Thanks!

Dunno about Scottish Power but a previous supplier I had only issued a formal "bill" once every six months but they did have an on line account which had statements of monthly readings and monthly DD payments. However as only got reconciled for the six monthly bill it meant that you did have to do your own sums to actually work out the state of your account during the intervening time by working out how much you'd used and how much you paid. It did do nice little graphs of consumption though from the smart meter readings - it was a pity that they were 24 hours behind
So perhaps you need to explore the app in more detail to try and understand what is going on - see if there's more detailed statement info on the SP's website on-line account rather than just a phone app which may only show a basic snapshotNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
My elderly parents are with Npower.
Despite me putting in regular meter readings they only received a bill every 12 months.
I did an online chat & changed it to every 3 months.
