O/S Daily Saturday 23 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sunny but blustery start to the day and the air is cool too.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roasted herb potatoes, breaded chicken portions, salad/veg/beans, HM ham and pasta salad and coleslaw. Not sure about tonight but will think of something.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks NMLC.It's still windy here, not quite as bad though.I didn't do anything about planting up the stuff I'd bought at the garden centre, I might get it done today. Instead I concentrated on some sewing that ahd been hanging around - really I should have made a couple of cards, but wasn't in a cardmaking frame of mind.TA I'm glad you're getting on better with your window vac, they do speed the window cleaning process. Not a lot happening today, I'll see how I feel. It'll probably be plants.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's still windy out there but I hope not as bad as yesterday. Nothing in the garden was safe! My lovely big red poppies in the front, which had just started opening up, were battered to the ground. Fortunately the peonies next to them are still in tight bud, so they are safe for now! The back fared as badly with bird seed flying all over from the table and the bird bath blown over numerous times. A mat came blowing over the fence at one point! I shall try and track the owner today if I see any of the neighbours in their gardens.
As usual no plans for today. It'll be the same old same old and I will see what I feel like doing - or not doing! I don't think there will be any sitting out reading getting done in this wind. DD and youngest DGD stopped by yesterday and we tried sitting apart in the back garden but it wasn't much fun getting blown around so sadly they didn't stay long.
Have as good a day as you can folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried, lonely, bee stung and generally walking wounded. Take care and stay safe xx

Morning folks, even if there's a gale blowing outside and the rain is almost horizontal. ☹️After my short excursion yesterday I spent my day on the WW1 project and looking after DM. It's increasingly difficult to suppress the desire to 'go somewhere' that isn't the supermarket or other shop but I'm holding out. My friend, Alan, rang for a long cheery chat in the afternoon.
I'm about to head out for happy hour shopping for three households. DM's crossword buddy is donating his current printer to us, it's barely a month old, so I'll probably be fiddling around setting it up to the laptops. There's a couple of podcasts which are keeping my bedtimes smooth. I nod off to them and have to go back to them at least twice more. 🤣 I'm enjoying Tartan Noir and Sbooks even if the lockdown sound quality is a bit ropey.I hope that everyone continue to be safe and well as the nation wakes from its long deep sleep. Happy Saturday to all.12 -
Morning All
My goodness it's like the depths of winter out there, horizontal rain and blowing a hoolie. Yesterday wasn't much better so not much got done!
I had a bit of a garden fest yesterday with the Chelsea Garden Show being on the TV, I still have last nights Gardeners World to watch, one of my favourite programmes.
I'm going to make soup and a curry today but don't have any other plans, a quiet day - again!
Have a happy Saturday, take care. XX11 -
Good morning and thanks for the start nmlc.
Blue sky and pretty clouds this morning but we too are being buffeted by high winds. We are surrounded by big trees and a fair few branches have landed in our garden, I pass anything big enough to be worth burning to my neighbour, he likes to barbecue in the summer and uses wood rather than charcoal.
I got through some rather boring jobs yesterday, more of the same today.
Made spaghetti carbonara with salad, OH will cook tonight. Not sure what though, probably lots of meat for them and fish for me.
Hope everyone has a good or at least goodish day.

Morning everyone
Very windy all day yesterday and the same again this morning. I had more plants to plant up yesterday but couldn't get them done so I put them in the big planter that hasn't been filled with compost yet. Hopefully they'll be ok until tomorrow when the wind is supposed to drop a bit.
Bushes and shrubs that were starting to flower are bashed to bits.
Dads internet wasn't working yesterday, I told him he could ask his carer to have a quick look last night. It probably just needs the modem switched of and on again but mam couldn't work out which plug it was and wouldn't just switch them all off! If it's not sorted I'll just have to put mask and gloves on and go into the house this morning.
Well I'm going to move - wash my breakfast dishes and give cupboard fronts a wipe down. Then I'll clean the bathroom. Other than that it will be a lazy day
Hope everyone has a pleasant day

Not much to report here today. It's still a bit windy, but not as bad as yesterday, when Bon ran in with a pair of my knickers that'd blown off the line 😯😂
I popped to home bargains yesterday for the first time since lockdown began, but the queues outside were horrendous! Luckily B & M was almost empty
, so I got a few bits, inc spicy pickled onions, which are fab 😍
I'm going to do a rough food audit later, as I've been spending daft amounts of the stuff lately.
Have a great day everyone, n huggles to all the poorlies n peed offs today xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Bright and sunny here but with a bit of a wind although not as bad as yesterday which was super windy, we did 14 miles on the bikes yesterday we only went out for a short one and enjoy it so much we keep going !! Marie treat yourself to one ! you will be amazed how much they help with stiff joints etc, Im not sure how much weight I have lost when I was first diagnosed I was really down for a while and started to eat exactly what I wanted when I wanted and have carried this onso I have put weight on I have not weighed myself to see how much, but I have seen a difference in the shape of my body so I do think its making a difference.
Onto today OH and I are going to my sisters to collect a beautiful light oak dresser it was mum and dads then when they moved they had no room and then my sister had it for a while but she is struggling with where to put it so its coming to live here for a while, I love it and it brings back great memories for me as when my parents got it it was covered in light green gloss paint which my dad and I took weeks strip the paint from so holds good memories of my dad, it will go in our study and the dresser from there into the conservatory so a bit of a move around day.
BBQ for dinner tonight we have burgers and some pork fillet which I shall marinade this morning and have some salads and galicky potatoes as well.
Have good days all and stay safe xxx14 -
Hurray I’m in! Couldn’t remember my password and MSE was in and out for me.Blustery out there and the wind feels cold. Really enjoyed my dog walk though as I like this weather.Sorry to hear of the wind causing mayhem in gardens though and hope you can salvage any damaged plants.Plans for today include a tidy up and dust and some soup making. A washing load needs sorting too. Other than that I like to keep the weekends to potter about and read. This week was pretty busy ‘at work’ so it’s nice to have a bit of down time. I’m managing to switch off after work time which is really good as, to begin with, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to.Bella I hope yesterday was ok.Hope you all enjoy your day as much as you possible can.7

We have had a very short but heavy shower.
I think I may have another tooth/gum abcess. Fortunately, with the last one, the dentist prescribed antibiotics but that one finally righted itself. This one is in a different place so I started antibiotics yesterday and they have already had a massive effect on my insides, sadly not yet on the pain. I can phone if I need to, dentist is offering remote support.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back7
