    It is the entire Shearings Group, the largest coach business in the UK. All holidays are protected, the coach holidays by the Confederation of Passenger Transport, air holidays by the CAA ATOL scheme. A very sad day for travel in the UK

    Look at the demographics of the customers for coach operators, they are the least likely to travel this year. Shearings although the largest, is not the first coach operator to fail and won't be the last

    I agree, any that rely on the elder population will struggle, even when the lockdown eases.
    Obviously, any company has to survive until we get to a "new normal"  but seems the Government isn't keen on give them a extra hand in doing so,

    Long distance coach travel is unlikely to be high on the agenda for many for some time.

    When you say "all holidays are protected", the website customers are sent to seem to indicate that not all may be e.g.

    All other holiday bookings

    If you do not have financial protection for your holiday booking, other options to claim may be available to you. The options available to you will depend on your method of payment and insurance cover as outlined below.

    Holiday bookings without financial protection may include:

    • Self-drive holidays;
    from here... https://www.specialistleisuregroup.com/?eid=O91280737187386230948824zzzzz645e14e5574e0e8eb252d6a35e104b87a0066f0bd6cfee863360b6e1b4127241a4
    My holiday is self drive, was cancelled and I was given a credit note without me agreeing to one.  I requested a full refund by email but have heard nothing - and I won't now.  The website suggests claiming through ATOL or my credit card company - but how do I know if the self-drive holiday was ATOL covered?  I booked direct with Shearings and the letter headed paper has the ATOL logo on it - but does that mean it's covered?

    Very sad news.

    My parents used to do a lot of these coach holidays, a nice easy way for them to get out and about on the provided days trips and have breakfast and dinner cooked for them.
    I know a lot of hotels rely heavily on business from coach holidays.
    I can see a knock on effect.
