The issue you will have is that many new Insurers you go to are going to will ask why you do not have any no claims bonus and why you have owned the car for X months / years and don't have any no claims bonus / previous Insurance.
I would recommend you go via a local broker for this year and be totally upfront with them so they are fully aware. At next renewal you will have cleaned your record and the rest of the market (Who accept cars imported from Jersey) are open to you.
Otherwise there is the potential for a new Insurer to request sight of the log book and then start asking questions about why you have owned the vehicle for a while and have zero no claims bonus. This could potentially mean you have the new policy cancelled and are back to square one0 -
I'd be very careful regarding declaring the cancellation/voidance. Even though they've said you don't have to and that they've removed the marker, you don't know that for sure.
There's actually multiple shared databases that it may be logged on (not just CUE, which is mainly for claims information). Insurance Hunter (if it's still called that) is another. Not to mention it may stay on the underwriter's database indefinitely and they may underwrite for multiple companies.
I'd try your hardest to get them to write a letter confirming that this isn't a cancellation that needs to be declared. Pay for it if necessary.

The email is enough, you don't need a letter. It's 2020.1
