Old bank account

Hi there I have an old Bank of Scotland account which was open 2008. There is a company called 1st Credit saying I’m due £543 which to my knowledge was paid in full away back 2016/2017. My credit file says it’s Settled 2017 and I have nothing else on my credit file. I live in Scotland and seemingly the account in question was closed in 2014 or their around. Can this company still ask me to pay this even if my credit file doesn’t have anything on their relating to that account?

Yes, they can.  The last payment was only 3 years ago, so a couple of years from being statue barred.

But if they said you're due £543, that means they owe you money.

If the former, lucky you, if the latter, send the provit letter to them, found in the stickie section.
