Travel Refund

We booked a package holiday for 4 adults and 6 children with On The Beach.  We should have gone yesterday but it was cancelled.   They contacted us with a cancellation email, but it said we would receive the refund in two parts.   First we would get the cost of the hotel, airport transfers etc, but we would have to wait for the cost of the flights, until they had received the payment from the airline company (Vuelling).  From what I’ve been listening to via tv and radio, if it was a package holiday we should receive a full refund, in one payment.
I this the case or am I wrong.

  • Hi, I booked a holiday with a local independent travel advisor but it was a bit bespoke. B.A from Gatwick J.F.K, 5 nights New York and hotel then Newark to Dominican with Delta and 10 nights there with hotel then back to Gatwick on B.A. He book my package with Jet-set holidays he said he is still waiting for them to say if I can get a refund or vouchers. He took full payment for my holiday, is this still classed as a package holiday ? They cancelled my holiday two weeks ago and we should of being flying tomorrow how long should I wait till I tell him that am got to try cashback or section 75.  Now I am still furloughed and think I might lose my job at the end of this and if so I need the money NOT vouchers. can anyone please give me a bit of advise?

    Thanks Chris

  • We booked a holiday to Spain starting 11th March. Because of Covid 19 and being in our 70s a few days before leaving we asked the travel company to quote us a price for postponing the holiday until October. The accommodation component for October price was almost double the March one, increasing from £1100 by almost £1000. It just was not an option so we flew out on the Wednesday and on Saturday, predictably, Spain was in lockdown and the hotel's pools and gym were closed. There was absolutely nothing to do, we went there to explore Barcelona but everything was closed so we managed to book return flights on the Monday, two days early. We have asked the travel company for compensation since facilities that should have been available to us in the hotel were off-limits and they effectively stopped us postponing by quoting outrageous supplementary costs.  Where do we stand?

  • sorry, didn't understand what you were saying. The last payment on my debit card of £3400 was made to the independent travel company NOT Jest set holidays. Not sure of the first payment made by my credit card but am  99% sure that was the same.
    Cheers Chris

I booked a package holiday with OTB, should have gone 13th April, Flights and Hotel. As I had booked the hotel on a flexible booking basis had not actually paid at the time of cancellation and didn't book any transfers so basically just waiting on return of flight costs (Vueling). I e-mail OTB every now and again to check progress. The reply I had yesterday suggested that they had not even looked at my booking as they stated that they were waiting for flight costs to be returned from Ryanair and they had refunded the hotel & transfer costs without hesitation. Either they are looking at someone else's booking or they are just not checking details before responding I suppose I have to be grateful that I get a response as I know that not everyone does.
I did bring up the fact that I believed my contract was with On The Beach and not Vueling. They stated that "OTB are a travel agent therefore when making a booking you enter a contract with the applicable suppliers and therefore have booked a multi contract package and have to wait for the airline to refund you". Has anyone managed to get an actual cash refund from Vueling
