Burning Smell from Vacuum Cleaner

Hi,
Bit of a long story but we have a Shark 'lift-away upright vacuum cleaner with true pet' and have managed to get quite a bit of water in it (about two pints worth in the bin section). This happened over two weeks ago and I have cleaned filters, bin etc with cleaning wipes and left everything outside to dry. However, whenever I start the vacuum up now I get a burning smell (assuming from the motor). Wondering if its probably knackered if its been over two weeks and still burning? I've only turned it on two or three times for a few seconds

If it is a brush motor (some electric motors have carbon brushes inside - Most often found in low cost consumer products), it could be the brushes have smeared themselves across the armature. Unless you are experienced in stripping and repairing this type of damage, probably best to get a professional repairman to have a look. You may find there is a local domestic appliance repair shop in your town, if not, send it back to Shark.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I’m not familiar with the design, but wouldn’t the whole thing need stripping down to dry out the electrics? Clearly, the smell is something burning inside. So, stop turning it on, in the vague hope that it will somehow cure itself.I don’t know what the manufacturer will do, except sell you a new one?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Are you sure you cleared all of the filters? I have had cleaners with several filters that are not always easy to find.
