Strengthen an inbuilt kitchen cupboard to reduce vibrations

    Cheers. Would you recommend a particular type of wood? Or maybe Celotex? Or maybe just something thick and heavy? To get it rigid would you recommend cutting the wood to 3inchs high then sliding in lengthways? Maybe secure it in place with screws from above.

    well if you suspect that the shelf whats vibrating, then strengthen that yeah. tons of woodscrews & L brakets, if you can see any gaps put some polyurethane D$ expanding wood glue in there.
    thing is, if the fridge is causing excessive vibrations to begin with, the vibrations are going to escape into the rest of the kitchen woodwork as it's connected in lots of other places.

    What do people think to the following?


    I'm thinking I can replace the existing box that the fridge/freezer sits on with some wood, then put these on top, then they'll be no void at all. Worth a shot?

    if the 4 feet are the only contact points between the fridge and the wooden cupboard, then that might work. 
    but it's not, so pretty pointless in my opinion. I thought you were planning on strengthening the shelf?
